ADL Registry

ADL Registry and connections to DOD Component repositories Venn diagram of ADL, SCORM, ADL-R, and CORDRA The Advanced Distributed Learning Registry (ADL-R) is a searchable index of content metadata that can be resolved to content located in distributed repositories. The ADL-R is not a content repository. Searching the ADL-R is unrestricted.

The primary purpose of the ADL-R is to provide a DoD-wide means and infrastructure to search, discover, and expose learning content. The learning content will be managed as content objects, each with a unique identifier. The ADL-R is designed to provide an agile knowledge base for all content contributors. In addition, this infrastructure is expected to be a useful and authoritative life-cycle management tool for knowledge management DoD-wide.

Please visit the ADL Registry Portal to search the ADL Registry, register learning content, register a repository, review required metadata, review transaction samples, or review frequently asked questions.

If you are interested in participating in activities related to the ADL Registry, please consider the following:
  • ADL Registry Users Group

The ADL Registry Users Group (ADL-RUG) meets face-to-face about once a quarter to facilitate communication between the developers and the users of the Registry, and among the users themselves.

Please visit the ADL-Registry Users Group website hosted at the adlCommunity.net for more information.

  • ADL Registry Developer's Forum

The ADL-R Developers Forum provides information for developers that are working on software projects that intend to interface with the ADL-Registry. Please visit the ADL-R Developers area of the ADL-R Users Group website for more information. The ADL-R developer's forum provides information about the ADL Registry Interface Mechanism (ADL-RIM). Those interested in the ADL-RIM may want to review resources associated with the ADL-R Extensions and Evolution of CORDRA 2006 ADL prototype.

CORDRA
CORDRA communities

The Content Object Repository Discovery and Resolution Architecture (CORDRA) is an open, standards-based model for how to design and implement software systems for the purposes of discovery, sharing and reuse of learning content through the establishment of interoperable federations of learning content repositories.

CORDRA is designed to be an enabling model to bridge the worlds of learning content management and delivery, and content repositories and digital libraries. CORDRA aims to identify and specify (not develop) appropriate technologies and existing interoperability standards that can be combined into a reference model used to enable a learning content infrastructure.

Please visit the CORDRA website for more information.
