Enabling Excellence in Distributed Learning for the Department of Defense
Implementation Fest
Implementation Fest 2006

The Joint Advanced Distributed Learning Co-Laboratory (JADL) is proud to announce the annual JADL Implementation Fest. This year’s conference will be held August 22-24, 2006 at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts and Convention Center located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

The Event
The first day of our conference will include the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (OUSD P&R) providing updates on Training Transformation and the ADL Initiative; and our Military Services providing updates on current ADL efforts and challenges. A significant issue facing our Warfighters today is language and cultural training. We will hear how this issue is being addressed. Of significant interest on the opening day of the conference, we will hear directly from our Warfighters who will discuss their needs for distributed learning: preparation for deployment, their perspective on distributed learning; workarounds, and the reality of training while in the field.

Topics for the second day of the conference include: Implementation of DoD Instruction 1322.26, Development, Management, and Delivery of Distributed Learning; the status of the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM®); the ADL-Registry; Education and Assessment; the integration of SCORM and S1000D; and the Open Platform for E-Learning (OPEL). Additional features for the second day are a panel of experts to discuss the Analysis, Design, Development, Implemention and Evaluation (ADDIE) Process as well as a panel focused on Simulations and Games. Also as with past conferences, we will showcase our Prototype Program and share demonstrations of the 2005 Prototypes.

Feedback received from our JADL Implementation Fest 2005 indicated that a majority of you would like for us to offer break-out Focus Sessions. We hear you and the third day of this year’s conference features individual Focus Sessions! Session topics will focus on Education and Training; Technology; Implementation Challenges and Opportunities; and ADL Acquisition.

Workshops
Due to high demand, we are offering two workshops prior to the JADL Implementation Fest:
  • a three (3) day SCORM® School will begin on Saturday, August 19, 2006 with the final session on Monday the 21st, and
  • on the afternoon of August 21, 2006, we are offering a "Designing for Reusability" Workshop
Seating for both workshops is limited and will require a separate registration from the JADL Implementation Fest.

Golf Tournament
We are happy to announce the second annual JADL Golf Tournament! Our JADL Implementation Fest 2006 attendees will have the opportunity to play one of Disney’s beautiful golf courses - Lake Buena Vista. We have arranged 5-tee times starting at 1:00pm on Monday, the 21st of August. The cost will be $35 (plus tax) per person. Because of the reduced price, this will be a first come-first served opportunity. Please contact Dean Marvin if you are interested in playing. Dean can be reached at 407.472.2916 or . The Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is close to the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, so anyone interested in playing can either arrange for a shuttle, cab, or catch a ride with a fellow attendee.
